#WorldHandHygieneDay: Nurses Lead the Charge in Infection Prevention

ICYMI: On May 5, 2025, the Ministry of Health & Wellness marked World Hand Hygiene Day with an interactive event designed to promote the importance of clean hands in healthcare settings.

Led by a team of dedicated nurses, the session emphasized proper handwashing techniques and highlighted how hand hygiene plays a critical role in reducing healthcare-associated infections. Attendees participated in live demonstrations and were educated on the World Health Organization’s “Five Moments for Hand Hygiene”, reinforcing the importance of maintaining hand cleanliness before, during, and after patient care.

The initiative aimed not only to inform but also to empower both staff and patients to take active roles in infection control. Through this effort, the Ministry continues to support global health standards while advancing national awareness on everyday practices that save lives
